When Turnips & Bean Dumplings toast Breads

Soybean Dumplings with Turnips and Toast

1 daily serving for a 15kg dog (33 lb)

I made the serving a little bigger because Eddie is sporty. Adjust the amount according to your dog's needs, you know him best.

Cooking soy beans yourself

If you cook the soybeans yourself, use 100g of dried beans for this recipe, which is about the same as 300g of cooked beans after cooking. The beans can also be pre-cooked for a few days, then you can store them in a screw-top jar in the fridge and use them directly at mealtime, or put them in the freezer. That's how I like to do it, one part in the fridge, one part in the freezer, then you have the cooking effort for several servings in one go, save time and energy. Best of all, you can quickly have something on hand if you run out of ingredients.

Tip

For even more fun eating, I hide the bowl in the flat and Eddie then goes on a search. As soon as he has sniffed the bowl, which can also be above head height, he sits down and points. Then it's time to eat.

Above all, you can quickly have something on hand if you run out of ingredients. Drop me a line in the comments about what you enjoy most about feeding.

Ingredients

Ingredients

300 g cooked Soybeans (I added savoury to the cooking water)
100 g grey Bread
10 g rolled Oats (or other)
110 g Turnip
10 g flat leaf Parsley
15 g Margarine
20 g Sesame oil
2 g ( Smoked ) Salt
1 Tablespoon(s) Nutrional Yeast

Preparation

Directions

  • First peel and slice the turnip.

  • With a little water and a steamer insert plus lid, I cooked them in a few minutes (about 6). It can of course be boiled if there is no insert, but the flavour is preserved even better if it is just steamed.

  • Meanwhile, chop the already cooked soybeans, I used a Moulinette for this.

  • Wash and chop the parsley.

  • Now add the parsley, (smoked) salt, nutrional yeast, oil and V-Complete to the soybeans. Mix well with your fingers. The oat flakes are for thickening, you can adjust the amount as needed.

  • As soon as the turnips are ready, remove from the heat, season with a little salt and oil and leave to cool in the bowl.

  • Now the dumplings can be formed. Use two tablespoons to scoop out some of the dough and shape it so that the dog can hold it better.

  • Place the finished dumplings in the bowl.

  • Finally, toast the bread in slices, spread with margarine and add in appropriate pieces to the rest. Voilà, already finished.
