Tobi, a Hound Mix on his Way Back to Life
Experience Report from Andre with Tobi
Tobi is now an eight-year-old hound mix with an extraordinary history. He lived on the streets in Serbia for about a year before he was sent to a state killing centre. There, his condition worsened rapidly: he was bullied by other dogs, therefore hardly received any food and was physically severely weakened. In desperation, he began to gnaw on the fence, which led to an intestinal perforation.
A Bavarian animal rescue organisation took care of him. A large part of his intestine had to be surgically removed. He was severely skinny, infested with parasites and almost hairless. Due to his condition, his prognosis was not good and he was considered for euthanasia.
Nevertheless, I decided to take him in. Initially, of course, I wondered how I could save him. I had been vegan myself for many years and knew that this type of diet is less stressful for the gut. In the beginning I cooked myself, which of course was incredibly time-consuming. After some time and a bit of research, I came across the product ‘Greta’ (at that time still under the name ‘Edgar’). The composition convinced me and Tobi liked the food.
Despite his serious health issues, his condition stabilised quickly. Today, around eight years later, Tobi is healthy, active and full of life. He is still fed exclusively with ‘Greta’. His coat has grown back completely, he is free of complaints and is often considered to be much younger by outsiders. Tobi says ‘thank you’: :-)

What a moving story from Tobi and Andre.
We are grateful that Andre has shared it with us. We are very happy that Tobi was able to recover so well with Greta and continues to thrive, and above all that he has found a loving and supportive companion in Andre, who has not given up on him and with love and confidence has made a joyful life possible.
An encouraging story of taking in an animal from an animal shelter or animal rescue organisation.
